Norman has an established practice in intellectual property, personal injuries, and commercial disputes.  Norman appears in courts at all levels, as well as other specialist tribunals, including the Trade Marks Registry and the Copyright Tribunal.

Norman acts for local clients such as well-known companies dealing in consumer design, comic art, medicinal products, civil engineering and the Government of Hong Kong. Norman acts for international clients such as companies dealing in scientific novelty products, cosmetics, fashion and the largest global music companies.  Norman has been recognised by the Legal 500 as a leading junior in intellectual property law, commenting ‘Norman is very experienced in all types of IP actions, from the registry level to the court level. His advocacy skills are excellent and his arguments are always detailed, persuasive, and supported by abundant cases.’  Norman is also a member of the Committee on Intellectual Law (CIP) of the Hong Kong Bar Association.  Norman has acted as counsel in notable intellectual property cases such as Copyright Tribunal Case No.2/2010, 20 November 2020, Dacheng International Legal Services Ltd & v Yeuk Lung Benedict & Anor., [2018] 2 HKLRD 818, SNE Engineering Co Ltd v Hsin Chong Construction Co Ltd & Anor., [2015] 4 HKLRD 517.

Norman is a recognised personal injuries litigator and a member of the Committee on Personal Injuries (CPI) of the Hong Kong Bar Association.  Norman was a member of the Law Reform Commission for (Tort) Periodical Payments for Future Pecuniary Loss in Personal Injury Cases (January 2023 publication, January 2024 government response).

Norman is a recognised commercial litigator and appeared in a Mareva injunction where the Mareva was successfully obtained (ex parte) and defended (inter partes) on freezing claims of over USD$23.6 million in assets in Carmon Reestrutura-Engenharia E Servicos Tecinos Especiaiais(Su) Limitada v Carmon Restrutura Ltd & Anor., [2024] HKCFI 715.

Norman is also involved in various legal publications including Professional Conduct of Lawyers in Hong Kong, Commercial Litigation in Hong Kong, Halsbury’s Laws of Hong Kong, 2nd Edn., 43(1), 43(2).

Apart from acting as counsel, Norman is a principal lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong since 2004 and teaches on the PCLL course. From 2004 to 2008, Norman was the Litigation Stream Course Coordinator, a former aspect of the PCLL at the University of Hong Kong.

Norman has sat as a Deputy District Judge in 2012, 2023, 2024.
